Pusher centrifuge

main_infilt1

Pusher centrifuge is a continuous filtering device used for solid-liquid separation which finds extensive use in chemical, pharmaceutical, food (common salt) and mineral industries. Pushers have been in use for more than half a century for dewatering relatively large, free-draining crystals and other solids.

Various types of centrifuges are available in the market, and each type has certain advantages over a specific range of process variables. Pusher Centrifuge has been known to be highly effective for feeds of wide ranging solid-content with particle size varying from 80 microns to a few mm.

The pusher centrifuge is, as the worm/screen type centrifuge, a continuously operating filtration centrifuge. The size of the separated solid particles will be preferable > 80 µm. The solids will be retained as a cake on a wedge wire basket and transported by an oscillating step by step movement of the inner basket axial in the direction of the solid discharge. The application of a pusher centrifuge is especially then advantageous, when based on the product characteristics, a high wear of all product contacting parts is expected, a long retention time of the solids is required or loss of solids in the filtrate, crystal breakage and abrasion should be low.

In addition a very intensive washing of the solid cake and, if required, a separate discharge of the solid cake and a separate discharge of mother liquid and washing liquid is possible

Features

Process: Continuous
Solids content: >20% by wt
Average particle size: 80 – 2000 µm
Solids throughput: Up to 25,000 kg/hr
Solids recovery: >98%
MOC: Stainless Steel, special materials
Pilot Plant purpose-250mm Dia
Suited for very fine solids’ separation
Slow solids transport speed
Thick, dense filter cake (internal filtration)
No mechanical stress from transport elements,
Direct spray of the washing medium onto the cake
Low transport speed, wedge wire screen in the direction of transportation
Wear resistant materials of construction

Best suitable for

Crystalline products with an average particle size in the range of 0.10 mm to 10mm and fibrous material up to 20mm fiber length. Infilt centrifuge also separate finer crystals having size small as 0.08mm to 0.1 mm with use of 50 micron screen and with specially designed pre thickener at input of centrifuges.
